The 44th DNS-OARC Workshop took place on February 6–7, 2025 in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, co-located with NANOG 93. This hybrid event brought together DNS experts from around the globe to discuss the latest developments in DNS security, operations, and research.

Key Highlights from OARC 44

OARC 44 brought together attendees from 14 countries, highlighting its global impact. Of the 151 participants, 101 attended in person, with members making up 83% of the total attendance.

OARC 44 featured a diverse range of presentations covering key areas of DNS security, operations, and innovation. Lightning Talks & Panel Discussions

Engaging lightning talks provided quick insights into pressing issues. Panel discussions raised the question, ‘Wouldn’t OARC be the place to evaluate DNS best practices?’ fostering discussion on the role of OARC in shaping DNS standards.

Mentor-Mentee Program

The mentor-mentee program continued to support first-time attendees, welcoming 35 newcomers. Based on direct feedback from participants at OARC 43, we implemented improvements for OARC 44 to enhance the experience. We strive to make this program the best it can be within our limitations and we have received feedback from both mentors and mentees at OARC 44 to continue refining it for future attendees. Continuing our initiative to welcome first-time attendees, the mentor-mentee program fostered new connections and helped newcomers navigate the workshop.

Looking Ahead

With OARC 44 concluded, we now set our sights on OARC 45, which has yet to be confirmed. Stay tuned for the call for papers and registration details!

Thank you to all our speakers, sponsors, and attendees for making OARC 44 a success. If you attended, don’t forget to fill out the post-workshop survey to help us improve future events!
