Meet the Newest DNS-OARC Board Member
We are excited to introduce Mauricio Vergara Ereche, the newest member of the DNS-OARC Board! Mauricio joins Joe Abley and Ray Bellis as a recently elected board member, each securing a 2-year term. This year, DNS-OARC also welcomes DigitalOcean as a new member, with Mauricio bringing his expertise as Senior Engineer II responsible for their DNS services.
Mauricio’s journey in the DNS world spans an impressive range of roles. He began as Operations Manager for Chile’s TLD .CL, where he pioneered the deployment of anycast clouds and enabled DNSSEC, establishing key technical leadership across the LAC region. Later, he moved to California to serve as a Root Server Operator of IMRS (L-Root), managing ICANN’s DNS and DNSSEC operations, including critical reverse DNS infrastructure.
An active contributor to *NOG, IETF, and RSSAC groups, Mauricio has co-chaired LACNOG’s DNS Working Group and shared his insights on DNS and security across public and private sectors, always with a focus on fostering a reliable, secure Internet. His commitment to DNS-OARC is longstanding, having supported the community since 2006 through various roles, including as a Programme Committee member and volunteer.
Mauricio’s goal as a Board member is to provide fresh perspectives that encourage DNS-OARC’s growth and enhance internal processes. He believes in DNS-OARC’s mission to its core and is eager to continue giving back to the community he values so much. Please join us in welcoming Mauricio and looking forward to his contributions on the Board!
